AR 341: Contemporary Art History
Instructor: Steven Michael Vroom
Course Description: Examination and discussion of major movements in American and International art from the late 1940's to the mid 1970's The theoretical, philosophical, socio-political and critical nature of the art will be analyzed and explored. Out-of-class encounters with the art of our time, through gallery and museum exhibitions, will also be included where appropriate to this historical survey.
Course Requirements: [1] Class Attendance and Participation{10%}, [2] Three essays of 450 to 500 words in length which review a current exhibition in the Seattle area {60%}, [3] the final examination {30%}
