The Weimar Republic: Art and Culture

Course Description: A critical survey of thepainting, sculpture, architecture. Film, music, theater, litterature, posters, little reviews, chapbooks, and other printed ephemera produced by avant-garde artistic communities in Germany from 1914 to 1933
Course Requirements: (1.) Two 5-7 page essays which examine a particular aspect of Weimar culture. MLA or Chicago Manuel of Style will be used. [45% each] (2) Class attendance is a factor in final evaluation [10%].
