Course Description: This course surveys the traditional and contemporary forms of Africa: sculpture, painting, metal work, architecture, textiles, and ceramics Through the study of these materials we will explore issues of African aesthetics and design, artistic identity, gender issues, and the social and political implications of art production
Course Requirements:[1] A four page research paper about an individual work of African art {30 %}, [2] The Mid-Term Exam {30 %}, [3] The Final Exam {40%}.
